Childhood Trauma and Abuse
Most of my work involves working with folks that have experienced childhood trauma and attachment wounding. In working with trauma my understanding and theory is that trauma lives in the body. Our bodies hold the residue of emotion, sensations, and memories. Oftentimes this can show up as intrusive thoughts, flashbacks or nightmares, discomfort and pain in the body, difficulty focusing, sleeplessness, being stuck in fight, flight, freeze, emotional flooding, and many other possible symptoms.
The approach that I use in working with trauma (Sensorimotor Psychotherapy) is grounded in research in neuroscience and development and works in a way that draws on the wisdom of the body and its innate knowing of what it needs to do to resolve the trauma that lives inside. By using guided mindfulness and studying the impulses and body sensations that arise in correlation with the memory, the body will find its way to release the trauma that’s been held for so long. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).

Anxiety, Emotional Regulation, and Nervous System Regulation
I am passionate about working with you to create more ease in your life. I am confident that things can feel better and more manageable.
Working with your nervous system to provide regulation and grounding strategies is an excellent way to start to feel less stressed and more in control of your emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations.
We can work together to come up with strategies to lower anxiety, manage emotional overwhelm, and find places of calm in your body.

Parenting Support
I have been working with families for over 10 years and feel honoured to have supported parents in repairing challenging relationships with their children. What I know to be true from doing this work is we as parents always try to do our best with what we know and the tools we have. All of us want to have nurturing and supportive relationships with our children. When there is unresolved attachment trauma in our lives it can’t help but show up in relationship with our children, our intimate relationships, and our relationship with ourselves.
No matter how badly we want things to be better or different for our children, untreated trauma has a way of showing up and impacting the way we are with our kids. It shows up when we are providing emotional support, when we are setting boundaries and limits, and especially when we are triggered. We can work together to address old attachment wounds that are coming up for you so that your past no longer has to have so much power over the present and you can be free to have the kind of relationships that you want.

Relationship Support
I work with folks in relationships both monogamous and non-monogamous.
You are welcome to work with me either individually on relationships or with your partner and/or partners.
Some of the reasons folks seek relationship counselling is to deal with ongoing harmful conflict patterns, to increase communication strategies, to work through infidelity or repair issues, to get support around opening up relationships, family planning, and working through attachment trauma that is showing up in your current relationships.
